Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve
THIS NATURE PRESERVE INCLUDES AN ESTUARY WHERE THE SANTA ANA RIVER MEETS THE PACIFIC OCEAN
Unfortunately a large amount of trash collects in this estuary which adversely effects the wildlife. In addition, invasive (non-native) plant species have been introduced over the years, which crowd-out the natural habitat for bird species’ such as the California Gnatcatcher. Trash clean up and vegetation replacement projects are underway throughout the Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve, and we are so excited to be part of it!
